About Biju Patnaik University of Technology

Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) at Orissa started its journey by a special Act passed by the Orissa Assembly in June, 2002. It has its head quarters at Rourkela—one of the most important cities of the state. The primary objective of the University is to ensure high quality of education. The main objective was to provide a perfect technical person needed in the present industry by the virtue of which the present society will be enriched.

The BPUT has 110 colleges along with it (both constituent as well as affiliated), with near about 58,000 students. There are various disciplines including Business Management, Engineering and Aarchitecture, Computer Studies, Hotel Management, and Pharmacy. All these courses are available in both its Under Graduate as well as Post Graduate qualifications. All engineering colleges of the state of Orissa are affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology.

BPUT follow some well-diversified strategies and there are some key areas in the BPUT, which has single-handedly differentiated it from the other Universities. It is ensuring appropriate and world-class curriculum, faculty and rational evaluation system. There are supporting and creating centers of excellence for fundamental and industrial research, and establishing partnerships with the progressive industries solving major industrial problems.

The BPUT is following some well-defined objectives. It has the objective of providing the affiliated as well as the constituent institutions with state-of art curricula and syllabi. It has the thought of preparing a world-class course material package for the students. It aims at establishing a coherent, well-organized and clear system of examination, and publication of results. It also aims to provide quality input for increasing domain acquaintance and soft skillfulness to students through amalgamation of lecture, print and electronic media. It aims at implementing and providing training for teachers. One of its objectives also includes providing career development of teaching faculty all the way through Master's and Ph.D programmes. The University also aims at offering services for research in frontline areas through a number of Advanced Centers.

The Campus of the University is situated in Rourkela. The University maintains a very high standard of education and other facilities in the University as well as in all the affiliated colleges under it. Most of the affiliated colleges have all the basic and advanced facilities that are needed by the students of the colleges and also of the University.

There are more than 120 colleges associated with the Biju Patnaik University of Technology. Most of these colleges strictly follow the instructions and guidelines of the University. They are diversified in the field of B.TECH, B.ARCH, B.PHARM, MBA and MCA. The colleges provide adequate infrastructure to accommodate the increasing flow of the students, which is increasing each and every day. Most of these facilities are very beneficial for the entire strength of students enrolled in the University and the affiliated colleges.
